Dear Sirs,
Doulton Filter Candle. Your Ref No. 1 Our Ref. E/B/1223
We have now completed our testing of the filter candle received from you
and the results obtained are as follows:
Testing procedures for Efficiency of
Bacteria Removal.
Two filter candles were fitted into stainless steel container provided by
yourselves. The filters were then washed with tap water until a clear filter
liquor was obtained - approximately 5 litres of water being passed through
each pair of filters.
Five litres of tap water inoculated with Serratia marcescens and Escherichia
coli was added to the upper chamber and the collected filtrate was assessed
for those organisms.

Comments
These results show a reduction of better than 99.99% and indicate the
performance in removal of bacteria the filter is suitable for use in
preparation of water for drinking and domestic purposes.
Yours faithfully
